The Greene County boys basketball team added one win and two losses to their season record last week.
On Jan. 9, the Rams played at home against undefeated Grand View Christian, falling 98-32.
Greene County was no match for the Thunder as they rolled to a 28-6 lead in the first and were up 66-17 at halftime. The second half was more of the same as GVC cruised to the victory.
Trey Schilling scored nine points for the Rams, with Gabe Ebersole putting seven on the board, and Jesse Miller scored six. Miller grabbed five rebounds; Camden Strennen and Isaac Carman had four each. The Rams had 21 rebounds, eight assists, five steals and 16 turnovers.
The Rams picked up a much-needed conference victory over rival Perry the next day. GC pulled off an 18-14 first quarter lead and went up 38-28 at halftime. Perry outscored the Rams in the second half but were unable to overtake GC. Final score was 65-61
Ebersole had a double-double with 13 rebounds and 16 points. Richard Daugherty scored 22 points for the Rams, with nine rebounds and one steal. Miller put up 13 points, with six rebounds, one block and four steals. Patrick Daugherty had six assists. The team hauled down 42 rebounds, 11 assists, 10 steals, two blocks while committing 18 turnovers and 18 fouls.
On Friday Greene County traveled to Roland-Story, which is ranked fourth in the state in Class 2A.
The Norsemen have rolled to a 10-1 record and they showed why against the Rams. R-S went up 15-8 in the first quarter and held a 27-13 lead at halftime. The third quarter was almost even for the two teams for a 48-33 R-S advantage. The Rams were unable to rally, falling 72-48.
